Biography:

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Nicole Ma is the acting fourth horn of the Vancouver Opera. She has also joined the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra as their third horn in 2024. Before working in professional orchestras she studied at McGill University with Nadia Côte and Denys Derome. She was also a graduate at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the UK, studying with Phil Munds, Jonathan Lipton, Angela Barnes and Sue Dent.

As an active orchestral player, she plays regularly with the National Ballet of Canada and has also performed with Canadian orchestras including Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Orchestre Classique de Montréal and Obiora Ensemble. Some of her other recent engagements in Canada include playing at Brott Music Festival (National Academy Orchestra) and being one of the participants at the Orchestre Classique de Montréal CANIMEX mentorship programme.
